Beef and Spinach Pie

Beef and Spinach Pie Ingredients

1 package Athens fillo dough (not puff pastry) - there will be two packages in the box

1 lb ground lean beef

1 large onion, diced fine

1 10oz frozen spinach, thawed and drained/squeezed thoroughly

Salt and pepper to taste

2 sticks butter, melted

4 to 6 eggs mixed well

Beef and Spinach Pie Cooking Instructions

Fry the ground beef and onion together (add any seasonings here) until cooked.

Add the spinach last, set aside.

Assemble the Pie:

On the bottom use a pastry brush to spread maybe 2 tbsp butter on the bottom.

Next, a sheet of fillo dough.

Then use a pastry brush to spread on egg; careful not to rip.

Then another layer of fillo dough.

Alternate layers of butter then egg.

When you've finished with the first package, spread out all the ground beef mixture.

Then a sheet of fillo dough and alternate butter then egg on each layer.

Butter the top layer.

Bake at 350  degrees for 1/2 hour or until the top layer is golden brown.

This recipe freezes well.  It looks like you've cooked all day!

Optional add ins: Feta cheese, olives, shredded carrots instead of spinach, add herbs to your liking.
