Baked Spaghetti

Baked Spaghetti Ingredients


1 small box of spaghetti, approximately 13.25 ounces



2 jars of spaghetti sauce, approximately 24 ounces



12 ounces of cottage cheese



12 ounces of ricotta cheese



4 eggs



3/4 cup of grated parmesan cheese



8 ounces of grated sharp cheddar cheese



4 ounces of mozzarella cheese



1 lb. of hamburger



1/2 lb. of hot sausage



1 tsp. of garlic powder



1 tsp. of Italian seasoning


Baked Spaghetti Cooking Instructions


Break spaghetti in half and cook according to package directions. Mix hamburger and hot sausage together in a skillet and cook until done.  Drain off grease and add the spaghetti sauce.



Using a 9 x 13 inch pan, spray bottom with non stick cooking spray, add sauce mixture to cover the bottom of the pan.



Drain spaghetti, rinse with cold water, then add 1/2 cup of grated parmesan cheese, 1 tsp. of garlic, 2 eggs, and container of cottage cheese.  Mix well and add half of the spaghetti mixture to the pan.



Mix ricotta cheese, italian seasoning, and 2 eggs in a separate bowl. Put this mixture on top of the first layer of spaghetti. Cover with a layer of meat sauce mixture, then cover that with 8 oz. of cheddar cheese.



Add remaining spaghetti mixture, Top with the remaining sauce, the top with 1/2 cup of parmesan cheese and 4 ounces of mozzarella cheese



Bake in a 350 degree oven for one hour and ten minutes.  Cool ten minutes before cutting and serving. 



A lighter version of the dish can be prepared using low fat or no fat cheeses, ground turkey, and whole wheat or fiber rich spaghetti.
