Schnitz Pie

Schnitz Pie Ingredients

1 lb sour schnitz (dried apples)

1 orange, rind and juice

3 tsp cinnamon

2 cup cold water

Pie crust, unbaked 

Schnitz Pie Cooking Instructions

Put the schnitz and cold water into a saucepan and soak over night.

Cook to a soft pulp.

Add cinnamon, sugar, orange juice and rind.

Mix well.

Let cool.

Line a pie pan with pastry.

Put mixture into crust.

Put top pastry on.

Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes.

Reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake for 30 minutes more.
