Orange Creamsicle Cake

Orange Creamsicle Cake Ingredients


1 white cake mix

3 large eggs

1/3 cup vegetable oil

3/4 cup orange juice

1/2 cup water

1 tsp orange extract



Whipped Cream Icing

1 cup milk

3 tbsp flour

1/2 cup butter

1 cup sugar

1/2 cup crisco shortening

1 tsp vanilla



Orange Glaze

3/4 cup butter

3 1/2 cups powdered sugar

1 tsp orange extract

orange juice, as needed

orange food color


Orange Creamsicle Cake Cooking Instructions


Preheat oven to 350º.

Grease and flour 1/2 sheet pan.



To make cake:

In a mixer bowl, combine cake mix, eggs, oil, orange juice, water, and orange extract.

Blend well with mixer and pour into prepared sheet pan.

Bake in preheated oven for 15-20 min.

You may leave cake in pan and cool on wire rack or remove from pan and place on 1/2 sheet cake board.

Cake must be completely cool before continuing.



To make whipped cream icing:

In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine milk and flour and whisk until smooth.

Cook until mixture becomes thick.

Allow to cool to room temperature.

When cooled, add butter, sugar, crisco and vanilla and beat until smooth and creamy.

Spread over top of cooled cake.

Place cake in refrigerator for 1 hour or into freezer for about 15 min until icing is hardened.



To make orange glaze:

Melt butter in saucepan over low heat.

Add powdered sugar and orange extract.

A little orange juice may be needed to thin the glaze a little.

Then add orange food color to your liking.

Blend well and pour glaze over cake when removed from refrigerator.


Makes 24-36 cuts of cake.
