1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
3 eggs, separated
1/4 cup milk
1 recipe pastry dough
1 tsp vanilla
3/4 cup chopped nuts
1/3 cup raisins, chopped
1/3 cup dates, chopped
1/3 cup figs, chopped

Chop and cook for 5 - 10 minutes the raisins, dates and gifs in just enough water to preven scorching.
Cream together sugar and butter
Add well beaten egg yolks, milk, vanilla, nuts and cooked raisin mixture
Line muffin tins with pastry dough, rolled out and cut in circles
Fill almost full, 3/4, with above mixture
Bake in quick oven, 400 degrees, until pastry is brown, 15 - 20 minutes
When cool, top with meringue, made with separated whites, and bron again.
Yields 12 - 15 gems
