Caramel Apple Crumb Pie Ingredients


1 pkg. (11 oz.) 9 inch pie crust mix (deep dish)

1/2 cup finely chopped pecans

1 1/4 cups flour, divided

1 cup sugar, divided

1/2 cup butter, melted and cooled

3/4 teaspoon cinnamon, divided

3 lbs. apples preferably Granny Smith, cored, peeled and cut into 1/4 inch slices

1/4 cup caramel topping (sundae topping)


Caramel Apple Crumb Pie Cooking Instructions


Preheat oven to 375 F; place baking sheet in center shelf of oven.

Combine crust mix, 1/4 cup pecans and 1/3 cup water; mix until a soft dough. Roll out dough on a lightly floured board to 11 inch circle. Place in deep dish 9 inch pie dish; trim and flute edges. Prick bottom with fork; refrigerate 15 minutes.

In small bowl, combine 1 cup flour, 1/4 cup sugar, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/4 cup pecans; stir in butter with fork and toss until crumbs form; set aside.

In a medium bowl, combine apples, 3/4 cup sugar, 1/4 cup flour and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon; toss until apples are coated. Spoon into pie shell; top with crumb mixture. Place on baking sheet in oven and bake 1 hour and 45 minutes or until filling bubbles and apples are tender. Tent with aluminum foil if browning too much. Cool 30-45 minutes then drizzle caramel sauce on top of crumbs.
