Buttermilk Cake

Buttermilk Cake Ingredients

3 cups Sugar

1 cup Shortening

5 Egg Yolks

3 cups Flour

1/2 tsp. Baking Soda

1 cup Buttermilk

5 Eggs, unbeaten

2 tsp. Almond Extract

1 tsp. Vanilla Extract

Buttermilk Cake Cooking Instructions

Mix together sugar, shortening, and egg yolks for 2 minutes at medium speed.

Add flour, baking soda, buttermilk, unbeaten eggs, almond extract and vanilla extract.

Mix all ingredients until blended.

Pour into a greased and floured bundt pan.

Bake at 350° for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Let cool for 15 minutes and remove from pan.

Sprinkle top with powdered sugar.

Perfect for Strawberry Shortcake.

For Easter or Christmas add 1 cup Tutti Frutti, can be purchased at Conzatti's.

Very moist cake that can be served alone or accompanied by fruit or chocolate sauce. Stores well, freezes well. Excellent cake for any occasion. Left by: margie (14 Jan 2012)
