3 cups Raisins
1-3/4 cup Water
1 cup Shortening
1-1/2 cups Sugar
2 Eggs, slightly beaten
3-1/2 cups Flour
1 tsp. Baking Soda
1/2 tsp. Salt
1 tsp. Vanilla

Cook raisins in water until all water is absorbed.
Set aside and cool.
Add vanilla.
Cream shortening and sugar.
Add eggs, baking soda, salt and flour.
Add this mixture to cooked raisins and vanilla.
Chill dough about 1/2 hour for easier handling.
Shape dough into small walnut size balls.
Roll in white sugar.
Bake on greased cookie sheet in 350° oven for 12 to 15 minutes.
Makes about 7-1/2 dozen cookies.
