Pealing Bell Cookies

Pealing Bell Cookies Ingredients

2 cup all-purpose flour

1-1/2 tsp baking powder

6 tbsp margarine

1/3 cup shortening

3/4 cup sugar

1 egg

1 tbsp milk

1 tsp orange peel

1 tsp vanilla

25 maraschino cherries, halved and drained

Pealing Bell Cookies Cooking Instructions

Combine flour and baking powder and set aside.

In a large mixing bowl beat butter or margarine and shortening until butter is softened.

Add sugar and beat until fluffy.

Add egg, milk, orange peel and vanilla and beat well.

Add flour mixture and beat until well mixed.

Cover and chill 30 minutes or until easy to handle.

Shape into two 8-inch rolls.

Wrap and chill several hours or overnight.

Cut into 1/4 inch slices.

Place on ungreased cookie sheet.

Place a cherry on the bottom half of each slice for bell clapper.

Fold in sides of slice overlapping at top and covering cherry.

Pinch sides to form bell shape.

Bake in 350 degree oven for 12 to 14 minutes.

Remove and cool.

Nice delicate looking cookie.
