1 cup Shortening
1-1/2 cups Brown Sugar
2 Eggs
1/2 cup Buttermilk
1-3/4 cups All-Purpose Flour, sifted
1 tsp. Baking Soda
1 tsp. Baking Powder
1 tsp. Salt
1 tsp. Ground Cinnamon
1 tsp. Ground Nutmeg
3 cups Quick Cooking Rolled Oats
1 cup Raisins
1/2 cup Walnuts, chopped

Cream shortening, sugar, and eggs together till light & fluffy.
Stir in buttermilk.
Sift together dry ingredients; stir into creamed mixture.
Stir in oats, raisins and nuts.
Drop from tablespoon 2 inches apart on lightly greased cookie sheet.
Bake in hot oven, (400°) for about 8 minutes.
Cool slightly; then remove from pan.
Makes about 5 dozen cookies.
