White Bread

White Bread Ingredients

2 package active dry yeast

1/2 cup warm water

1/4 cup sugar

1/4 cup shortening

1 tbsp salt

1 cup warm milk

3/4 cup warm water

6-7 cup flour

White Bread Cooking Instructions

Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup warm water.

In large bowl blend sugar, shortening, salt, milk, 3/4 cup warm water and 2 cups flour.

Beat until smooth.

Add yeast, then gradually add remaining flour to stiff dough.

Knead until satiny.

Place in greased covered bowl until double in bulk, approximately 1 hour.

Punch down.

Shape into 2 loaves, put in greased loaf pans, cover and let raise 1 hour.

Bake in 375 degree oven 30-40 minutes until golden brown.

Remove from oven and brush with butter.
